On 14th October 2021, Ambassador He Xiangdong met with Ceann Comhairle Mr. Seán Ó Fearghaíl.

Ambassador He appreciated the current positive momentum for China-Ireland relations, with frequent high-level exchanges, fruitful economic and trade cooperation, increasing people-to-people exchanges, and the communication and exchanges between the two national legislative bodies. The National People’s Congress of China is ready to make joint efforts with the Dáil Éireann to further enhance the bilateral parliamentary exchanges and to promote the China-Ireland relations to a new height.

The Ceann Comhaire said that China’s achievement in social and economic development is very impressive. Hundreds of millions of Chinese people have shaken off extreme poverty and now live a dignified life, which is a very important protection of human rights. The Irish parliament attaches great importance to Ireland-China relations and is willing to work for the further strengthening of the bilateral relationship.

They also exchanged views on issues of mutual concern.
