On March 15th 2018, China's Hainan Airlines signed agreement in Beijing with Dublin Airport Authority on direct flights between Beijing and Dublin starting from June this year. The air routes are Beijing-Edinburgh-Dublin and Beijing-Dublin-Edinburgh with two flights respectively every week.

This is the first commercial direct flights between Beijing and Dublin and the second direct flights between the two countries which will contribute to the escalation of China-Ireland relations.
