Delegation of NPC Agriculture and Rural Committee visits Ireland

On 12-15 June, a delegation of Agriculture and Rural Committee of the National People’s Congress of China led by H.E. Mr. Wang Xiankui, Vice-Chairman of the Committee visited Ireland.

During the visit, the delegation met with deputy speaker of the Dáil Éireann, Mr. Pat the Cope Callaghan, members of Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine and Committee on Rural and Community Development of the Irish Parliament, and representatives from Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and Irish Co-operative Organisation Society.

Both sides agreed that the China-Ireland relations enjoy good momentum and agriculture and rural areas are important and of high-potential in the bilateral cooperation. Both sides expressed the readiness to further enhance communication and exchanges between the two countries’ legislative bodies and related institutions so as to promote the cooperation in agriculture and rural areas.

Mr. Wang and his delegation also visited local forestry farm, dairy farm and tillage farm as well as the Kerry R&D Centre.

H.E. Mr. He Xiangdong, Chinese Ambassador to Ireland accompanied the delegation at the meetings.
