On 19th March, Dr. Cillian F De Gascun, Director of National Virus Reference Laboratory attended China-Europe video conference on combating COVID-19. The conference was jointly hosted by the Department of European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International division of National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China. Government officials and health experts from 18 European countries were invited to the conference.

Prof. Wu Zunyou, Chief Epidemiologist of Center for Disease Control and Prevention of China (CDC), Dr. Gao Fu, Director of CDC, and Prof. Wang Guangfa, Director of Respiratory Medicine of First Hospital of Peking University introduced the transmission characteristics of COVID-19, Chinese epidemic prevention concept and comprehensive measures and China's latest pathologic research results respectively, answered questions from attendees and had in-depth discussions with them.

Dr Gascun extended gratitude for China sharing precious experience on prevention and treatment, and said it is meaningful references of great value and Ireland will study carefully.
