On December 22, 2019, Premier Li Keqiang sent a message to Manuel Marrero, congratulating him on his assumption as Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba.

In his congratulatory message, Li Keqiang said, China and Cuba enjoy a deep-rooted traditional friendship and always respect, understand and support each other in the process of our respective national development and construction. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Cuban side to take the 60th anniversary of the establishment of China-Cuba diplomatic relations next year as an opportunity to enhance high-level exchanges and deepen practical cooperation in various fields so as to better benefit the two countries and the two peoples.
