On February 26, 2025, Vice President Han Zheng met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of New Zealand Winston Peters in Beijing.

Han Zheng said, in November last year, President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Christopher Luxon met on the sidelines of the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, providing strategic guidance for the continued growth of China-New Zealand relations from a new starting point. As the China-New Zealand comprehensive strategic partnership enters its second decade, China attaches great importance to the development of China-New Zealand relations and is ready to work with New Zealand to follow through on the important common understandings reached between leaders of the two countries, stick to the right direction, boost confidence in cooperation, enhance mutual understanding and promote the sustained, sound and steady development of the China-New Zealand comprehensive strategic partnership, so as to contribute more to peace, stability, development and prosperity of the two countries and the region at large.

Winston Peters said, New Zealand attaches importance to developing its relations with China and is willing to strengthen dialogue, enhance understanding, and deepen cooperation in various fields such as economy and trade with China as an active partner of China, so as to push for greater development of bilateral relations.
