Meanwhile, a British scholar says the Chinese government should take strong measures against cults.

London School of Economics religion expert Professor Eileen Barker says the Chinese government should take legal action against organizations that violate the law and endanger society.

In an interview with Xinhua News Agency, the professor called the suicide attempt by seven Falun Gong pracitioners in Tiananmen Square a tragedy, and urged China to make more people aware of the danger of cults.
