TIANJIN, March 1 (Xinhuanet) -- Dozens of women in this north  China municipality who once practiced Falun Gong have written  letters of regret to the local government and police, saying that  they have completely broken away with the cult which has claimed  the lives of over 1,600 people on the Chinese mainland.
"To be good people depends more on actions than words," said  one of these letters, "Many of us started practicing Falun Gong  with the purpose of doing good. However Li Hongzhi cheated all of  us."
"Falun Gong has become a cult that jeopardizes society. We  became tools of Li Hongzhi, who attempted to overthrow the Chinese government," the letter continued, "What we did hurt all the good  people who cared for us. We feel so ashamed, and all we can do now is to say `sorry' to the government and our relatives from the  bottom of our hearts."
Relevant ministries of the central government, the Tianjin  Municipal People's Government, the Tianjin Police and employers of the former Falun Gong practitioners have been receiving such  letters since February 2000. The total number of the letters has  exceeded 400.
These women are now undergoing re-education through labor.  Their supervisors are trying patiently to help them learn the true nature of Li Hongzhi and Falun Gong through persuasion, heart-to- heart talk and the involvement of social efforts.
These women expressed their resolution in the letters that they would always observe the laws and show responsibility for  themselves, their families and the society.   Enditem
