On August 22, 2018, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at a briefing for Chinese and foreign media held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that we expect the Beijing Summit to achieve important outcomes in the following four aspects: First, make a new call for the construction of an even stronger community with a shared future between China and Africa; second, write a new chapter for integrating the Belt and Road Initiative with the development of Africa; third, set a new path for China-Africa cooperation towards a higher level; fourth, play a new melody that connects the people of China and Africa as close as a family. The Summit will adopt two outcome documents, namely, the Beijing Declaration on Building an Even Stronger Community with a Shared Future between China and Africa and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC)-Beijing Action Plan (2019-2021), and sign a series of bilateral cooperation agreements. The Summit will comprehensively plan China-Africa cooperation in the next three years and in the coming period, especially in the areas and directions that have a stake in African people's livelihood and employment and that are in line with the transformation and upgrading of Africa's economy, so as to help Africa foster self-development capabilities and accelerate its industrialization process and promote China-Africa cooperation towards a higher level.
