On May 6, Ambassador Zhao Xiyuan gave an interview to the Bram Stoker Club podcast, a student society at Trinity College Dublin, and engaged in a discussion with students.

Drawing on his own experiences, Ambassador Zhao spoke about the course of China’s reform and opening-up and the achievements of Chinese modernization. Using examples such as talent selection mechanisms and the 12345 government service hotline, he introduced China’s governance system, whole-process people’s democracy, and socialism with Chinese characteristics.

During the interactive session, students actively asked questions on topics including China’s diplomatic concepts, China–Ireland relations, and cultural differences between the East and the West. Ambassador Zhao answered each question and encouraged students to visit China and engage with its people to gain first-hand understanding of their confidence in China’s development, its global role, and the leadership of the Communist Party of China. The students expressed strong interest in China and a desire for deeper exchange and understanding.
