On December 11, Ambassador Zhao Xiyuan met with the newly appointed Chief of Protocol in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ms. Patricia O’Brien.

Ambassador Zhao extended his congratulations to Ms. O’Brien on his new appointment and conveyed his sincere appreciation to the Protocol Department for its consistent and valuable support for high-level bilateral exchanges and the effective operation of the Chinese Embassy in Ireland. The Ambassador wishes to maintain and continuously strengthen the strong cooperative relationship with the Department throughout the coming period.

Recalling her fond memories of past travels in China and cordial interactions with Chinese leaders during her tenure at the United Nations, Ms. O’Brien affirmed her readiness to continue facilitating Ambassador Zhao’s official duties and supporting the Embassy's work, thereby serving the further development of Ireland-China relations.
